Car Fire with Exposures at the CVS
In the late morning hours, Engine 1512
and 112, Tanker 2821, Truck 731, and Station 66 were dispatched to
the East Penn Bank on Main St. in Macungie Borough for a vehicle
fire with an exposure. Chief 101 (D. Smith), while responding to
the station, found a single vehicle, fully involved with exposures
to adjacent vehicles and the CVS building. Engine 1512 arrived on
the scene and laid a supply line from a hydrant at West End Trail
and the CVS parking lot. Engine 112 arrived shortly after Engine
1512. Crews from both engines simultaneously pulled 2- 1 and 3/4
inch pre connects and attacked the fire from the front of the
vehicles. The fire required copious amounts of water due to the
high heat and burning magnesium. The fire was knocked down and
extensive overhaul was preformed. Extension was held to only the
adjacent car.
